The role

We’re looking for a Data Governance Manager to join our Group Data team!

As our Data Governance Manager you will be responsible for leading the implementation of data governance best practices across the organisation. This includes ensuring the observability, discovery, and security of data across the analytics platform, in support of the wider data strategy to establish data as an asset to win.

    What will you do as a Data Governance Manager at N Brown?

  • Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data is trustworthy, accurate, and secure.

  • Work with data teams (Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics, and Data Visualization) to establish and maintain data quality standards.

  • Collaborate with Product Management, the Data Protection Officer, and other business and technology teams to identify data risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Lead the implementation of data observability and discovery platforms to ensure real-time monitoring, alerting, and triaging of data quality issues.

  • Partner with security and legal counterparts to conduct a cross-organizational data audit to identify potential data security risks and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Establish and maintain a data culture that values and encourages the use of data to improve decision-making.

What skills and experience will you have?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.
  • In-depth understanding of data governance best practices, including observability, discovery, and security.
  • Experience with implementing data observability and discovery platforms, such as Monte Carlo Data or similar solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and innovatively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Data governance tools and platforms, such as dbt, OpenMetadata, Monte Carlo, Alation or Microsoft Purview
  • Data visualization tools, such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Cloud-based data platforms, such as Google Cloud Platform, AWS or Azure
  • Data management and database technologies, such as BigQuery, Redshift or Snowflake
  • Familiarity with programming languages, such as Python, is a plus
