We’re looking for an Senior Front End Software Engineer to join our New Web team where you’ll be tackling a wide range of projects within the N Brown e-commerce platform, working on a multi brand level.

What will you do as an Senior Front End Software Engineer at N Brown?

  • Participate in the technical design of your required deliverables, in addition to contributing to the end-to-end solution with your own ideas.
  • Own, enhance and maintain our front-end platform.
  • Collaborate with other front-end developers and back-end system developers in building out an end-to-end solution that scales.
  • Developing new user-facing features.
  • Highlight and debug production issues.
  • Building reusable components for future use.
  • Collaborate with the UX team to translate designs and wireframes into high quality code.
  • Share knowledge with the wider team to inform decisions.

What skills and experience will you have?

  • Excellent skills and experience in modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript (ES6).
  • Excellent skills and experience in the following frameworks: React, Redux, Cypress
  • Experience with Next.js is advantageous but not required.
  • Experience with cross-browser development and W3C standards.
  • Ability to turn prototypes and R&D into production quality products.
  • Experience with user interface development.
  • Experience with browser-based debugging.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal skills and the ability to converse around problem areas or potential improvements.
  • Experience working in an agile workflow.
  • Experience with backend technologies such as Java or Python would be advantageous.
  • Experience with Gitlab-ci would be advantageous.

Ways of Working

We offer hybrid working which varies across the business depending on the role you’re in. For this role, the expectation would be 1 day per week. Our Head Office is located in the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre. So if you are travelling by train, tram or bus we’re perfectly located, plus we’re surrounded by cool cafes, trendy bars and the best places to eat!

Our working hours are 36.17 per week and our core working hours are between 10am - 4pm. Given we don’t have strict working hours you can find the working pattern that’s right for you.
