The role

We’re looking for a creative storyteller to help connect our people to the big moments, decisions and updates that shape our business. Reporting into the Head of Communications & Colleague Engagement as the Colleague Engagement & Content Partner, you’ll work closely with leaders, managers, and teams across the business to turn updates into engaging stories, coordinate campaigns and events that inspire colleagues and bring our culture to life.   This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with early career experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or content creation — or a recent graduate who is eager to learn. We will also consider supporting a Level 4 apprenticeship for the right candidate. This role sits within the People team  and you’ll work closely and collaboratively with our Internal Communications and Engagement Manager, as well as the wider People team and beyond.

What will you do as Colleague Engagement and Content Partner?

  • Partner with leaders and teams right across the business to understand what’s happening and how best to share it with colleagues acting as a trusted advisor on messaging, timing, and audience needs
  • Write, edit and shape compelling content that makes messages clear and engaging across a range of channels — intranet, email, video, social, and more — tailoring tone and style to reflect our brand voice and values.
  • Create digital content and assets such as images, graphics, and short videos (using tools like Canva), while exploring new formats such as GIFs, podcasts, and animations to diversify engagement.
  • Plan and deliver campaigns, events and activities — from town halls and Q&As to culture-building initiatives — that connect colleagues with strategy and celebrate success.
  • Proactively build strong connections and an editorial calendar to spot opportunities, anticipate upcoming comms needs, and turn updates into engaging stories.
  • Support leaders and managers with toolkits, FAQs and talking points to ensure consistent cascades and make it easier for their teams to stay informed and inspired.
  • Measure impact through data and feedback (e.g. open rates, click-throughs, surveys, sentiment) and use insights to refine and continuously improve how we communicate

What skills and experience will you have?

  • Ideally you’ll have some experience (1-2 years) within communications, content creation, journalism, PR or marketing - or a strong portfolio of work if you’re at the start of your career.
  • For the right person, this role could be a great opportunity for a recent graduate who’s keen to learn.  There’s also potential for us to support a Level 4 apprenticeship.
  • A strong copy writer and natural storyteller, with faultless written English and great editing skills - you can spot the human angle in a business update and adapt tone of voice for different formats and audiences.
  • Creative flair and an eye for detail  with the ability to create simple and engaging digital content assets - such as images, graphics, and short videos - ideally using tools like Canva. Bonus points for familiarity using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, video editing, or intranet CMS.
  • Highly organised and comfortable juggling different projects and deadlines (and keeping things moving when plans change).
  • Confident working with stakeholders at all levels – you’re a people person and know how to build trust and influence.
  • A genuine interest in colleague experience, engagement and culture, as well as how communication drives performance and inclusion.
  • Energy, curiosity and a collaborative approach, bringing fresh ideas and a willingness to experiment with new channels and formats.
