We’re looking for an Product Technologist to join our Product team . Within this role you’ll join our Womenswear quality & fit team. working to ensure that our products exceed our customer expectations for Quality, Value and Performance, developing great fitting garment’s, ultimately driving product improvements, which in turn delivers a consistent fit to flatter the customer, regardless of size and age.

What will you do as an Product Technologist at N Brown?

  • Proactive in garment fit and development, to reduce sampling and improve lead times, helping to drive improved fit across the depts and achieve our goal for N Brown to be the market leader in fit.

  • We are looking for someone who is inquisitive, enjoys embracing every challenge and using it as a learning opportunity and who enjoys problem solving, collaboration and working as part of a wider team. You’ll have an appreciation of quality and compliance standards and focus on continuous improvement as well as a good understanding of working with a wide-ranging supply base.

  • Competent in garment fitting process.

  • 2D Pattern knowledge required

  • Proactively conduct benchmarking exercises for fit and sizing across competitors, demonstrating commercial awareness of external competition and use information to improve our fit/product offer and to enhance the customer shopping experience

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, internally and externally.

  • Drive exceptional quality for the customer, ensuring the product is on time and from the right supplier for the product type/ brand requirements to deliver product excellence.

  • Show ability to engineer products to support net margin improvements for your dept.

  • Evaluate Supplier for skill, abilities, lead times and quality of product achieved preparing reports and escalating issues for action and recommending improvements.

  • Constantly review and improve Quality Standards in line with customer expectation, competitors and internal Quality guidelines

  • Maintain testing and compliance standards and performance through supply base, reducing unplanned refurb and Return to manufacturer.

  • Communication – engage with the wider business team both internal and external to drive Quality

  • Analyse, understand, report and act upon customer feedback and returns metrics.

  • Specify, review and act upon required Product Test, Chemical, environmental Compliance and product safety requirements.

  • Monitor and maintain all product information on Critical Path and data files.

  • What skills and experience will you have?

  • Technical clothing Degree or Industry Equivalent Qualification

  • Minimum 2-3 years industry experience.

  • Highly organised

  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude

  • Excellent Time Management

  • Excellent research skills

  • Experience in new 2D/ 3D technologies would be an advantage but not essential.

  • IT skills – competent in word, excel and power point

Ways of Working

We offer hybrid working which varies across the business depending on the role you’re in. For this role, you’ll work 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, with the expectation would be 3 days per week in the office. Our Head Office is located in the Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre. So if you are travelling by train, tram or bus we’re perfectly located, plus we’re surrounded by cool cafes, trendy bars and the best places to eat!

Our working hours are 36.17 per week and our core working hours are between 10am - 4pm. Given we don’t have strict working hours you can find the working pattern that’s right for you.
