Here at N Brown Group, we are looking for a Head of Engineering to join our Digital Technology team! About the Role

 

As Head of Engineering for Data, you will lead a team of software developers in the construction of large/complex software development. Providing the capabilities to enhance and build new features using the technologies that support our digital products ensuring we build things the right way. Accountable for leading and supporting your team- developing, mentoring as well as recruiting and attracting talent. You will improve software development, deployment, support methods and capabilities whilst driving the adoption of policies and standards across the organisation. You will be responsible for developing the working environment supporting systems and software life cycle practices for strategic, large, and complex deliveries. 

 

As Head of Engineering for Data, your responsibilities are: 

  • Programming/Software Development- Developing software components to deliver value to stakeholders. 
  • Systems and software life cycle engineering-Establishing and deploying an environment for developing, continually improving, and securely operating software and systems product and services 
  • Release and deployment- Applying the processes, systems and functions required to make new and changes services and features available for use 
  • Workforce Planning- Understanding the people and skill required to ensure objectives are met. 
  • Performance/Line Management- Improving organisational performance by developing the performance of individuals and squads. 
  • Professional Development-Facilitating the professional development of individuals within the team in line with their career goal and organisational requirements. 

Skills and Experience 

  • Deep understanding of the Digital Engineering processes (including Software Delivery and QA),  
  • Strong understanding of Agile 
  • Strong technical appreciation, able to lead and shape discussions with Technical Leads and developers with regards to application life cycle, source control, data warehouses, data lakes etc 
  • Experienced in IT Leadership roles, able to build a high performing technology and delivery teams. Promoting a learning and growth culture 
  • Experienced at managing supplier relationships and delivery 
  • Demonstrates the ability to creatively apply a wide range of innovative and/or management principles to realise business benefits aligned to the organisational strategy. 
  • Experience and excellent knowledge of AWS Services
