Reporting into the Senior Logistics Commercial Finance Manager, you will be responsible to produce Key reports on Logistics Operations costs for the group, whilst providing commercial support and advice on key business drivers and capital projects. You will be heavily involved in weekly payroll and carriage report production and reviews and providing weekly commentary to the Logistics SLT. You will be required to enhance the current financial MI suite and support the ad hoc requirements of the division. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Management Accountant who has previous experience working within a commercial capacity and is comfortable dealing with senior people. Management accounting and variance reporting experience and commercial awareness are essential as are strong Excel skills. Ideally you will be newly qualified with 2 years’ experience working in the similar capacity. Responsible for divisional management accounting, forecasting, and budgeting for the Logistics Division and maintaining high standards including the timely & accurate production of reports in conjunction with the financial control team  with Key focus on Payroll, Carriage, Overheads & Capex.  

 

Additional responsibilities include:

 

*        To work closely with the Senior Logistics Commercial Finance Manager and Finance Team to develop the financial control agenda and to ensure that the business is focussing on delivering the highest commercial value and ensuring optimal performance on financial/performance targets/KPI’s with the Exec Director. Providing transparency,  evidenced by clear linkage of divisional results to Statutory results whilst Ensuring compliance with statutory and group financial obligations

*        Accountable for providing divisional specific activity:

*        Month end close – validation of actuals, compute accruals and prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations., variance analysis.

*        Month end reporting - summarise financial position / issues / action identification and tracking. Commentary and review with SLT and directors.

*        Contribute to Operational Performance  - provide commercial narrative / insight - summarise and track material issues and actions.

*        Preparation of detailed budgets, forecasts, and 3YP.

*        Logistics Capital Projects submissions – cost/benefit analysis, NPV’s, report & track.

*        Supporting supplier contract tendering process – baseline costs, external drivers.

*        Compliance with statutory and group financial obligations.

*        Supports Commercial Finance Manager by championing change management; driving improvements to financial accountability across the Division and Organisation and improving financial processes to improve overall efficiency; identifying and contributing to business improvement opportunities, Margin Improvement, Operational Costs Improvement, Continuous Overhead Reduction.

*        Enhance commercial understanding by ensuring that all stakeholders understand their responsibilities for the overall financial goals of their Division and the business. Provide Directors and their Leadership Teams with independent, objective and practical advice, guidance and coaching in relation to embedding a commercial mind-set and governance

*        Ad hoc analysis and provision of financial advice as required to support decision-making and monitoring of financial performance

 

What we’re looking for:

 

*        Formal finance qualification: CIMA/ACA/ACCA

*        Strong technology skills, including computerised financial systems and MS Office (especially Excel)

*        Strong operational delivery track record, motivated to implement/deliver on time to quality standards and build new efficient processes

*        Demonstrated experience in managing change successfully within the Finance function

*        Highly energetic and driven to succeed and uses own initiative.

*        Excellent interpersonal relationships and ability to manage complex stakeholder relationship.

*        Ability to influence and negotiate at all levels of the organisation and experienced in communicating commercial finance language  in 1:1 and 1:many situations with a variety of media

*        Naturally inquisitive with a desire to understand a broad range of commercial issues

*        Team player
